- Tingling, burning or itching sensation prior to the cold sore developing. Small, fluid-filled blisters appear on or around the lips.
- If untreated. the cold sore will generally last between 10 and 14 days but you can take steps to reduce their frequency and to limit the duration of an occurrence.
- Use Blistex Antiviral Cold Sore Cream with aciclovir 5% to reduce the duration of infection. In some cases the Blistex Antiviral may prevent blisters from appearing.
- Use a Blistex lip care product containing sunscreen every day and before prolonged exposure to the sun - during both the winter and summer - to help prevent cold sores. Avoid situations that can trigger cold sores, such as cold and sun.
