Dandelion leaves are a very powerful diuretic and are useful in treating fluid retention.
The leaves also have a laxative effect, and can be used in treating constipation or dyspepsia such as feelings of fullness and flatulence.
Dandelion should be taken with caution by persons with gallstones. Dandelion may also cause an overproduction of stomach acid, and therefore should be used with caution by those with ulcers or gastritis.
Boil 1 cup of water with 2 – 3g of tea for 10 – 15 minutes. Take 3 times a day. The leaves can also be eaten raw in salads.
